Never owned a grill. I have a natural gas line set up.
Was wondering if this was worth it. I’m assuming it’s very old. Sorry if this is a dumb question!

Absolutely! Late 90’s early 00’s. I’m literally grilling on one I’ve owned since 1999 as I type this. Feel them out, do they just want it gone and would take 20 buck? Offer 50 if not.

  2. That bbq is a tank. My father has my old one, probably 20 years old. Still works and looks like new. My father in law has the same one as well. They were amazing bbqs.

How many times is this going to be posted in this sub? Buy it or don’t dude.

Look at the burners and crosslights. That is very old to not have had them replaced at least a couple of times.

This was my favorite grill. Parts are also readily available for it, which is great and you’ll never look back.

  6. The most important question here… is that a propane or natural gas setup?

  7. Presumably, the grill is set up for NG with that hose.

If this grill is fitted for NG, the frame, firebox, grease pan & other non wear & tear parts are in good order $75 is a good deal.

I have a later model with a solid plastic side shelf & side burner. Very durable model. I had to convert from NG to propane & it cost $150 for the conversion kit from Weber back in the day.

Spirit 300 parts fit this model. I would avoid non Weber replacement parts… they’re inferior quality. Avoid porcelain coated grates & flavorizors… stainless is the better option all around & bar/round grates are easier to clean than V shaped grates.

Rotisserie option on this model is ideal since the middle burner can be shutoff… newer models have burners that run front to back vs. side to side like this model. If you do two zone grilling this model isn’t as good as models that have front vs side control valves.

    Hope this helps.

    Good luck.

Yes cast iron grates alone are worth it

Offer 25. Top out at 50. Lots of elbow grease is needed to restore it. Have him connect it to fuel and demonstrate it’s operational, and that will justify the $50 top end.

Am I incorrect in seeing that the frame appears to be falling apart or is that just a slanted surface that the grill is resting on?

Yes totally buy it Mabye offer $50 or $60 if not just buy it for the $75

I’d say yeah. The thing with grills, you can’t get replacement parts if it’s a weird brand or odd size. Weber’s good and consistently reliable.

$ goes before the numbers, not after. $75 not 75$. Tisk tisk tisk

Absolutely. Much better than the modern trash that is rusted through in 6 years

  15. I would, but I’m looking specifically for this era Weber to refurbish. If it works it’s worth 75 easy. You can still get all the parts for it. Just make sure the bottom isn’t rusted out.

The flavorizer grease bars are pretty cheap to replace. Pretty standard used price.

Got mine last year to supplement my charcoal grill for $50 with a full propane tank.

If it’s setup for NG and that’s what you have, go for it.

  17. The inside chamber specifically. The bottom under the burners. If the lid and the chamber are in good shape, you can find almost any other part for this grill.

  18. Just cooked burgers on a red one of those. No idea how old it is but my dad got it when I was a kid and now I have kids of my own… Always cooks great and I prefer the side to side burners over the back to front most of the new ones have.

  19. I just saw this on Facebook marketplace, I suppose we live in the same city lol

I can’t see the burners to tell if they’re rusting out, and I don’t know if the valves for the propane leak.

But assuming it’s fine than yeah that seems like a decent deal

I just retired one of those a few days ago. It has been a great grill that never let me down. Was natural gas too.

My only complaint is that the burners run horizontal (left/right) instead of front/back. That setup wasn’t convenient for indirect heat or cooking different types of food at the same time.
