“Would you like to do a cook book?” Greenwich Entertainment has revealed the official trailer for a biopic documentary film titled Marcella, arriving in theaters in the US this May. The film premiered last year and will be out on theaters and on VOD in the summer season to enjoy while cooking up your own Italian food meals. Marcella Hazan didn’t just teach Italian cooking—she changed the way America eats. Millions love her recipes – now hear her amazing story. A charming new documentary by director Peter Miller. Fearless, passionate, and exacting, Marcella introduced authentic recipes to millions. Julia Child called Marcella “my mentor in all things Italian.” This features appearances by Jacques Pépin, Danny Meyer, April Bloomfield, and Lidia Bastianich. This intimate portrait reveals the bold woman who forever shaped home kitchens. She is behind the ultra famous (everyone has it!) cookbook called “Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking”. This doc looks like an easily enjoyable and wholesome film that can bring joy to everyone who watches. I’ll watch.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Peter Miller’s doc film Marcella, direct from YouTube:
Millions love her recipes. Hear her amazing story! Marcella Hazan changed how we cook & experience Italian food. A disabled woman initially trained as a scientist, Marcella never cooked until she immigrated to America. But through her cookbooks and teaching — and an uncompromising commitment to Italian tradition — her impact was felt in millions of American home kitchens. A new film tells her extraordinary, improbable, delicious story. Marcella is directed by prominent doc producer / filmmaker Peter Miller, director of the doc films Sacco and Vanzetti, A Class Apart, Jews and Baseball: An American Love Story, A.K.A. Doc Pomus, Sosua: Make a Better World, and Robert Shaw: Man of Many Voices previously, plus many shorts and TV doc projects. It’s produced by Amy Carey, Renée Frigo, and Peter Miller. This initially premiered at the 2024 Coronado Island Film Festival last year. Greenwich Ent. will debut Miller’s Marcella doc in select US theaters + on VOD starting May 9th, 2025 coming up.
