I set aside my leftover meal that I was sooooo excited to have for lunch today, it was still cooling down so i left it out in the evening but forgot to put it in the fridge before going to bed (out room temperature for 8hours). I had prior cooked this meal in the afternoon at around 4pm, that I then reheated at 11pm for my diner with the topped ingredients (breadcrumbs + dash of ricotta).

The ingredients are in the photos, i had fully cooked the pancetta before adding it to the dish and then fully cooked the entire dish in the oven.

It smells fine.

I think it's okay to eat, or no??? and if it's okay, should I leave it out or put in the fridge? I would eat it for lunch today in about 5 hours
don't want to poison myself, thank you!!

EDIT: it was inside the tupperware the whole time

I would not eat it because I don’t want to chance diarrhea on a day or two. That being said people eat out of dumpsters every day and they are still here.

I would eat it because I’m frugal and live life on the edge. Also I made a meal nearly identical to this this week! So good!

Depends on your tolerance. I grew up with fried fish left on the counter for 4 hours, and milk forgotten outside overnight then re-fridged.

I’d eat it. But if you have doubts, I’d trust my gut (literally).

Yall need to grow a pair. I forget stuff in the microwave all the time. I wouldn’t go past today but overnight isn’t gonna hurt you.

I left 2lbs of opened ground beef in the fridge yesterday that I meant to freeze the night before. It was BRIGHT RED and didnt smell the best. It happens to us all, sadly!

it should be fine – especially if you heat it.
if it was off, you would smell it. honestly – i would have been much more concerned if you had put it into the fridge whilst covered and too warm.

3/5 inflammation foods…I wouldn’t in the first place

  9. Growing up I was always told you can’t smell the bacteria that’ll kill ya. I wouldn’t but if you do you have to report back. For science

People are going to say don’t do it but if it passes the smell/visual test, do it

Smells and tastes fine? I’d go for it. But, now or never. Whatever you don’t eat now, throw away. Dont put any back in the fridge.

Long as you’re okay with a possible long date with the toilet bowl

Looking at your ingredients, I would eat it. No raw meat. Everything was cooked. Just heat it up really well but yeah, I’d risk it.

Did you leave it at room temp from 4pm to 11pm and then also leave it out overnight?

  15. Cured meat, cheese, tofu and egg plant?

Yeah you’ll be fine, all those things frequently get put on counters for hours at a time

Have you ever eaten a sandwich that’s been out for a while? That’s basically all the ingredients you’ve got there

Subway is fine with subs being left out for 4 hours unsealed just in the open air, 8 hours is fine.

    I would not eat it.

I bet this rarely happens, so it’s okay to toss it.

Just heat it up on the stove and eat it, my in-laws in Italy leave their food out and eat it the next day and they always fine

I think it depends on your gut. My husband eats food that is out all night alllll the time and has no problem and thinks I am crazy for worrying about it. But he doesn’t realize not everyone has a goats gut.

  19. Itsjuicyjett

Yuck. You left it out twice and you wanna eat it? I can tell youre going to eat it regardless.

UPDATE: I threw it away!😩 it prob would have been okay but the broad spectrum of responses left me undecided and didn’t feel convinced it was worth the risk, thanks!!
