I first met this sauce after ordering from the Heat shop we're all familiar with (or at least should be). I saw this one on Hot Ones before, and it had pretty positive reactions! For some reason, I didn't take notes on this like I normally do. That has nothing to do with the sauce, but for me as a failure of a person. I'll get straight into the review!
REVIEW: This one has stuck with me since I've had it. While it isn't mind blowing, it's good, and the smoky flavor is really notable. You get a lot of good smoke flavor right up front, and it's delightful! You can tell it's real flavor, and not that liquid smoke stuff. I even picked it up in the scent pretty clearly. The next thing I picked up was the jalapeno flavor. I am actually fairly picky about jal sauces, and this one really knocks it out of the park for pepper flavor. I expected a verde sauce, but I was pleasantly surprised how different this sauce sets itself aside from that. The other vegetables came after, the onions and garlic were measured perfectly. The sweetness from the yellow onion actually came through, which is difficult to detect in a lot of sauces. The black pepper was another flavor that popped out, which also surprised me because it's the last ingredient on the list. I don't think I really picked up on the cumin and coriander (both of those flavors being quite distinct), but maybe Sam just did a great job at balancing those in. This sauce was really easy to eat. I destroyed it in a few short days, and would absolutely recommend this for both novice and experienced spice rats. I'd buy this sauce again just to try it on more variety of foods, although it IS incredible on breakfast burritos. Rest in Peace, Spicy Prince
