KOULOURAKIA with Cadbury eggs 🐣💗
the cutest little twist on the classic cookie 🤩
I originally posted this on my blog in 2019, and since have updated it with some tips! recipe (condensed to fit caption) below or full recipe can be found on my substack 💙
Ingredients:
• 1½ cups unsalted butter, room temp
• 10 oz mini Cadbury eggs
• 1 cup sugar
• 2 large eggs
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• ½ cup heavy cream
• 5 to 5½ cups all-purpose flour
• 4 tsp baking powder
• 1 tsp salt
Quick Instructions:
1. Crush the Cadbury eggs — really go for a fine chop! Big chunks will tear the dough. Save a few whole ones to decorate.
2. Cream butter + sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, vanilla, and cream.
3. Sift in dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms. Fold in crushed eggs. Chill for 30 mins.
4. Roll dough into ropes and twist or spiral.
5. Top each cookie with your reserved egg pieces.
6. Bake at 350°F for 17–20 mins until lightly golden.
7. Cool completely + store airtight (they’ll keep for weeks… if you don’t eat them all first).
Tip: Shape while the dough is chilled but still pliable—it makes braiding easier and cleaner!
