Brand new Pit boss 700 pellet grill

This is only my 3rd time using it

A few hours into smoking my pork butt at 250 degrees, it started to back burn into the auger, so I primed it to push the burning pellets out, but I noticed the burn pot filling up fast. I used a long flat head screwdriver to reach down into the pot to move the ashes around and flick those chunks out.

After 4 back burns and After 11 hours to reach 165 degrees, I pulled the pork butt to wrap it, I shut the smoker/grill down and finished the pork butt in the oven at 250 until it reached 205.

I tore my grill apart and these crystalized turds are what made my night a living hell.

What pellets are you using? I’ve heard of these happening with knotty wood pellets.

At first I didn’t realize this post was in “Pellet Grills” and I thought you were having problems with your bong.

Wow – guess I’m still just a stoner at heart.

I get shit like that under my firebox at work when metal melts. And I get black glass when it gets too hot in the firebox.
