CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KGAN) — The Fireside Tavern is celebrating its grand opening Thursday in downtown Cedar Rapids, offering a fresh dining option for those seeking Italian cuisine with a modern twist in a rustic setting.

The restaurant is the second one owned and operated by Mandy Gaud and her husband, who are also the owner of City Walk Eatery in downtown Cedar Rapids.

She says they decided to open a second restaurant on a whim after the first one was a success and because this location was inviting.

“We opened that location [City Walk Eatery] last month on New Year’s Eve. This place was an opportunity that we saw that had potential,” Gaud said. “So my husband was like, ‘Let’s open this next restaurant.'”

The owners want potential customers that the menu focuses on Italian dishes but there is something for everyone to enjoy.

The Fireside Tavern will be open from Tuesday to Sunday, operating from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
