I thought the spam was supposed to be inside the rice and seaweed outside? Either way they’re bomb. Big fan of these.

I’m Korean and from Hawaii, and this is a spam musubi! It’s local Hawaii food inspired and created by Japanese people.
My mom would always make it normal (with a teriyaki sauce) or a version with kimchi fried rice and an egg 🤤

The way you’ve prepared it (shape and what looks like sauce) makes this a Japanese-Hawaiian musubi.
That being said, if you were to slice the spam and roll this into some kim with rice and vegetables (if you want), you’d have spam kimbap. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gimbap](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gimbap)

There’s a long history of wherever American gis went, spam dishes followed them.

Am I crazy? I thought it’s only spam musubi if it’s made using the soy glaze sauce. This is just spam and rice wrapped with gim

I like how you used the seaweed for decoration, and not as a means of holding the rice to the meat. Something ai might do.

Spam musubi. And it can be delicious.

Looks ‘ono, but the nori should wrap around the musubi/spam, not stop halfway 😁

Spam musubi! Looks great!
This is Japanese-Hawaiian, not Korean.
Looks like spam musubi, which is Hawaiian. I think I need to do this, I’ve never eaten it but it looks amazing.
Spam musubi/kimbap, but you made it way too big.
