Aussies around the country are searching high and low for ways to save money as the cost-of-living crisis rages on.

The price of eggs and cheese is enough to set eyes watering. A meal out at a restaurant or a takeaway? Often out of the question.

But for those trying to keep costs low, there’s one spot Aussies can go for a quick and easy restaurant-quality meal that’s just as kind to the wallet as it is the taste buds.

Enter: the freezer aisle.

Over the years, the ready meal availability in the supermarket freezer section has seen an impressive glow up and there are plenty of tasty meals on offer that are healthy, delicious and, of course, affordable.

Behind those frosted glass doors at your local Coles, among all the frozen lasagnas and butter chickens, you’ll find a new kid on the block – Destination Italy.

For those craving a restaurant-quality meal without the restaurant price tag, the new frozen food brand claims to offer the solution: restaurant-quality food in the freezer aisle.

Instead of the bland and flavourless frozen meals of yesteryear, Destination Italy is on a mission to help Aussie households rediscover the joy of a restaurant-quality meal at home.

The new brand launched in partnership with Coles and is now expanding to hit shelves in retailers across the country.

As the name suggests, the brand is bringing real Italian pizza and gelato straight from Italy to Aussie freezers.

According to the brand, it’s Italian food as authentic as it comes. No shortcuts, no fake branding.

Think: slow-fermented dough, wood-fired cooking, rich traditional gelato and top quality ingredients.

It’s music to the ears of the foodies among us.

Among the range, Aussies can find 24-hour rested and woodfire pizzas made in Meduno, Italy and authentic creamy gelato made in Bologna, Italy.

The pizzas and gelato come in a range of classic local flavours and some cult-classics that you can see here.

The brand promises to provide restaurant-quality flavours and prices that don’t break the bank.

“People still want that indulgent, shared food moment – they just don’t want to pay $50 for lukewarm takeaway,” said Chief Marketing Officer of Destination Italy, Stuart Diamond.

The brand has already seen a strong demand from foodies and families who are enjoying Destination Italy products as an affordable replacement for takeout.

As more and more Aussies take to the freezer aisle instead of their food delivery apps, Destination Italy hopes to cater to those looking for something a little extra.
