Main Street is trading oysters for orecchiette. Taking over the former Smitty’s Oyster House (and, briefly, Anthem Sound Lounge), Lucia is the newest venture from the team behind Harbour Oyster and Bar and Social YVR. Opening June 11 at 3124 Main Street, it’s a fresh take on Italian dining that brings bold flavours, playful twists, and plenty of reasons to book a table.

At the helm is Chef Zachary Steele, whose kitchen credentials span both Vancouver favourites and international spots. His approach to Italian cooking is polished but never precious—think satisfying plates that make you want to lick the sauce clean, etiquette be damned. “Lucia is a celebration of food that brings people together,” Steele shares in a release. “Whether it’s for a long lunch, a late-night bite, or simply to sip on one of our signature cocktails.”

The menu plays in the realm of handmade pasta, wood-fired pizzas and seasonally driven antipasti. Expect elevated takes on classics like beef carpaccio and rigatoni piled high with cheese, plus a few surprises for good measure.

Lucia’s bar menu doesn’t phone it in either. The cocktails are balanced and Italian-inspired, from bitter spritzes to crisp martinis and a few inventive twists along the way.

Inside, the space is warm, buzzy and built for lingering. Whether you’re grabbing a quick pizza on a Tuesday or turning a Friday dinner into a multi-hour affair, Lucia aims to make it easy to stay awhile.

Lucia is set to open June 11 at 3124 Main Street.
