FYR, the Downtown restaurant named by USA TODAY last year as one of the nation’s best restaurants, is changing its menu in March.

The live-fire restaurant in the Hilton Columbus Downtown, which has served a South American-influenced menu since opening in October 2022, is shifting to an Italian focus for a limited time.

Going, for a while anyway, are dishes such as adobo-marinated grilled octopus and salsas and sauces from Executive Chef Sebastian La Rocca’s native Argentina. With the new menu, La Rocca will explore his Italian roots; his grandfather was born and raised in Foggia, in the Puglia region of southern Italy.

Entrees will include Tagliata di Manzo, a simple and classic dish of grilled angus New York steak, arugula, confit dried tomatoes and Parmesan; Chicken al Mattone, made with a cacciatore sauce, Castelvetrano olives and Calabrian chili; and Pancia di maiale, featuring roasted pork belly, slow-cooked beans and salsa verde.

Starters on the Italian menu include stracciatella, a soft, creamy cheese paired with kumquat compote and topped with pistachio, basil and rustic croutons. Pastas include ravioli, risotto and spinach malfatti gratin, which are dumplings in cheese sauce.

You can see the entire new menu here.

Desserts and cocktails will get an Italian take as well. Rustun Nichols, beverage director for Hilton Columbus Downtown, has created a number of new cocktails, including a bergamot spritz and an old fashioned with bourbon, fig cordial and Calabrian chili.

Some of FYR’s classics, including an Ohio dry-aged tomahawk steak, empanadas and the restaurant’s chilled roasted tomato starter, will remain on the new menu.
