I own my place (cafe with a little shop attached for local bits and bobs) and we stock these spice mixes etc from one of the local people.

It has just passed its best before date, so I took it home to use it.

I'm eating it like… This isn't right.

You want to take a guess at what it's supposed to be? Winner can have a disappointing out of date spice mix mailed to them at their own expense.

I don’t know if I have ever seen Almond Meal in a spice mix, so I’m going for something baked. Maybe like a Thai Everything Bagel.

  2. StormThestral

You’re obviously in Australia so I’m guessing dukkah

  3. That almond meal is really throwing me. I almost wanna say this is someone’s weird idea of a Thai curry thing, but the the tumeric…fuck, man, I dunno, one of those tandoori spice rubs?

Korma would have been my guess too, but I’ve seen you knock that one back.

So if not Korma, maybe Pasanda? That’s the only other ‘common’ curry here in the UK that I think has almond in it.

But your wording also implies it’s not going to be the spice mix we think it is, so it could be Tikka Masala or Butter Chicken, which are similarly mild but shouldn’t really have almond in.

I was thinking a really fucked up taco seasoning, but your comments thus far indicate that I am wrong. It also shares similarities with Cincinnati chili, but that’s really just a rebranded Greek stew using ground beef instead of lamb.

The almond meal is a fail regardless. As a first ingredient? This makes no sense.

That’s not some white idea of curry is it?

Lots of Malaysian food in Australia …with the nuts could it be inspired by a nasi lemak?

  8. Who the fuck knows at this point 🤣 I read through the comments and it could be anything! Some kind of mix for Pad Thai or Penang curry?

Ah fuck. Either I can’t edit the post or I’m too dumb to know how.

Someone guessed it! It’s supposed to be butter chicken.

I don’t know why almond meal is the first ingredient. I don’t know why lemon myrtle is in it. Nothing makes sense. I have to take my CBD oil and eat some chocolate about this whole situation.

Imma guess it’s meant to be garam masala, but it’s shit.

Came to guess garam masala but already seen the answer. I’m with you on the confusion. Shout-out for being active in the comments – as a non Aus, I now want to know what the Myrtle and native leaf taste like!

I’m gonna guess it’s a gluten free mix for frying or baking meat?

Edit: ahh I see it was buttered chicken lol

  13. der_Klang_von_Seide

It’s a masala of some kind. But why on earth is the first ingredient almond meal?? I’ve really never seen that before.

  14. moogmarmaladebeats

Just for fun I’m gonna say Chinese five spice🤓

  15. All the ingredients besides almomd meal would point tona curry blend.

So i’ll say a really fucked up curry blend

Why does this look like the exact same font as Skyrim? Feels like the list should include white cap, giant’s toe, and vampire dust.
