Touring Columbus Monthly’s 2025 Best New Restaurants event

Take a tour of Columbus Monthly’s Best New Restaurants event that welcomed 300 guests to The Stack at Municipal Light Plant in Columbus, Ohio.

The grand opening of Metsi’s Wood-Fired Italian in the Short North is set for June 6.The restaurant is owned by BJ Lieberman and Bronwyn Haines, the couple behind Chapman’s Eat Market and Ginger Rabbit Jazz LoungeThe restaurant will be open from 5-10 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.

With a menu suitable for a midweek comfort meal or a weekend celebration, Metsi’s Wood-Fired Italian is set to become the Short North’s newest restaurant.

Specializing in classic Italian-centric dishes cooked over an open hearth, Metsi’s will open its doors at 36 E. Lincoln St. on June 6.

The restaurant is the latest venture from BJ Lieberman and Bronwyn Haines, the husband-and-wife team behind Chapman’s Eat Market and Ginger Rabbit Jazz Lounge.

Metsi’s, which got its name from the nickname Lieberman’s son gave his grandfather, offers dishes ranging from savory selections such as eggplant parmesan and radiatori alla roma to sweet sensations like tiramisu.

“The entire menu is made up of food I crave,” Lieberman said in a press release.

Lieberman also touted the cocktail menu, which is anchored by a suite of specialty negronis suitable for pairing with any meal or enjoying as a stand-alone drink.

Patrons will have three dining areas to choose from:

The Bar at Metsi’s: An upstairs bar and lounge area offers a shortened menu and drink specials during happy hour (4-6 p.m.) and full dinner service at 5 p.m.The main dining room: The area is situated in sight of the kitchen, allowing patrons to watch as the chefs create each dish.The Parlor: The private room has a full bar and seating for parties of eight to 20 people, available July 1.

Metsi’s will be open from 5-10 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Reservations are not required but are recommended.
