I recently traveled to Rome, and the one food I could not stop ordering was tiramisu. The espresso-soaked ladyfinger dessert filled with layers of creamy mascarpone is the ultimate comfort dish. While there are tons of recipes available to make it homemade, if you’re like me and have a busy weekday schedule, you may not have the time to make it from scratch.
To help you fulfill your Italian dessert fantasies — yes, even on a Tuesday night — Trader Joe’s recently stocked its freezers with boxes of tiramisu.
This Italian tiramisu relaunched at Trader Joe’s comes in a pack with two individual trays for $4.49. It’s sold frozen, but you can simply thaw it out by removing the dessert from the box and refrigerating it for eight hours (you can pop it in the fridge before you head to work or the evening before you go to bed.)
This Trader Joe’s tiramisu follows a classic recipe using ladyfingers. It has a base of ladyfinger biscuits soaked in coffee and Marsala wine, a generous topping of creamy sweetened mascarpone cheese, and a dusting of cocoa powder.
When this product launched a few years ago, shoppers cleared the shelves trying to get their hands on a pack. Since then, people have counted down the days for Trader Joe’s to restock their freezers with them. One person commented on this post highlighting the release, “It is ABSOLUTELY delicious. I love it.” Another user mentioned, “Excellent in a pinch for sure.”
While some TJ fans love the Italian tiramisu, others aren’t too excited about the launch. One shopper commented on the post, “Had this last year, I thought it was just okay. Obviously, it can’t compare to restaurant tiramisu. But I guess okay in a pinch.”
Bottom line: If you want to try Trader Joe’s Italian tiramisu or have been a long-time fan, you’ll want to make a trip to your nearest location. The grocery retailer shared that this creamy dessert will only be available in freezers for a limited time.
