Downtown Old Orchard Beach is more than just pizza slices
and French fries when it comes to summer cuisine. There are a few new options
this year along the main drag on Old Orchard Street.
Stuffed, 26 Old Orchard St., puts a new twist to hamburgers
and sandwiches. The new food stand offers sealed burgers, fried chicken
sandwiches, gyros and breakfast sandwiches. The burger or sandwich is
completely enclosed in bread, the crispy edges sealing in the meat and all the
fixings. According to the menu, the seal
locks in flavor and the juiciness of the meat.
Istanbul Restaurant and Bakery, 44 Old Orchard St., offers Mediterranean
food and pastries. The menu includes a variety of bowls including a chicken shawarma
bowl with White rice, chicken shawarma, tzatziki, hummus, grape leaves, and garlic
sauce; and a falafel bowl with falafel, rice, crunchy pita, mediterranean
salad, hummus, corn, feta and tahini. Side dishes include eggplant salad, tabbouleh
and hummus. Pastries include baklava and Dubai chocolate cheesecake.
