Calibrate it, put in boiling water set temp to 100 degrees C

No it’s garbage

Not even remotely. Even if it’s calibrated It’s not indicative of grate level temp. So even though it may be accurate, it’s not gonna give super useful info

Boil water and calibrate it. A few degrees off is no big deal.

Mine has needed calibrating. It’s very close to the grate temp when cooking low and slow.

Calibrate at least once a year

It seems pretty accurate to me with my fireboard.

No. To me that’s the temp at the top of the dome, probably accurate but not super useful as to my cook, unless I’m doing a high temp reverse sear. But that’s just me.

I found the dome thermometer surprisingly accurate to the Thermoworks Smoke I use when I need accurate temp reads.
Will I trust it for consistent and accurate temps when I do a low and slow cook, no, but for your basic cooks the dome temp is good’nuff.

I find that the temperature at the grate is what’s important. I use a thermoworks wired sensor with wireless remote to monitor my cooks.
