  1. It might not meet our Western hygiene standards but man oh man I bet that a lot of that food would absolutely taste like manna from heaven.

I’m curious how many people they’re cooking for. What’s the percentage breakdown between delivery/to-go orders and dine-in customers? It seems like there is a lot of food being cooked but not many people eating, which makes me wonder if there’s more seating elsewhere. Looks epic tho, Seoul would be awesome to visit.

I have been to that market! There’s also at least one great gyoza bar there. You walk up and tell them what you want, and either eat them on the spot on a narrow counter, or take them away in a plastic bag.

The ceramic dishes you see on the stoves are the serving dishes!

  4. immersemeinnature

Looks like they are all cooking the same thing?

This is pristine compared to indian street food.

I dont fool anybody, its cleaner than my kitchen when I wasn’t married.

I can live with mexican and seoul levels of street food

This looks so awesome. I wonder what a rush looks like at a popular spot.

Everything that looks like it should be hot is hot and everything that looks it should be cold is cold, and it looks clean. American chef, I’d eat anything from that market.

You gonna get something? Buy something or get out! Lol

  9. And the food fucking slaps. Some of the best mandu I’ve ever had was from a stall in that market. Four years later, and I want to go back just for them.

I wish I could smell through my phone I bet it smells amazing!

  11. peloquindmidian

I just got back from Disney.

The amount of people that would not be able to handle walking there is quite high.

  12. Safe-Dentist-1049

Is the person going through the market looking for something specific or just getting in the smells and saying “ yes this looks good”

  13. cynical-rationale

I’m western and I know people would never eat this but I would in a heartbeat. I love street food in Mexico but this is next level.

I was a cook and kitchen manager for almost 2 decades. This would be amazing for someone like me

  14. consumeshroomz

I don’t know where to start… I’ll take one of each!

I’ve cooked professionally in an alleyway before, and I gotta say they’re doing a much more professional job than I was frying chicken and fish behind a business park/strip mall. I would totally fuck up a plate from any of these restaurants.

if i was sure that they followed sanitary practices would love to go there. even more. would LOVE a native tour guide for Japan.

  17. EmotionalMushroom759

    Yes!!!!
Also would like to point out that these alleys look cleaner than a lot of kitchens I’ve seen

  18. i can smell this and it smells like spicy heaven

  19. MakarovIsMyName

because i have had food poisoning that damn near killed me.

  20. TakedaIesyu

I’d love to be there as a tourist and hate to work there.

  21. ChaosAverted65

Amazing place, loved walking around these food markets. The west attempts to do something similar but they always become way overpriced and too corporate feeling

  22. notabox316

Jimmy Johns cost me $30 for a sub, bet I couldn’t get anything there for that price. /s

After watching Anthony Bourdain for years, I dream of places like this. Every episode I always say, “I don’t know what it is, but I want it.”

  23. 100percentapplejuice

Grew up in the Philippines, ate street food left and right. Moved to the US, visited home after 5 years…and I got immediate food poisoning from the street food lol.

Still…I’d love to visit this street food market one day!

The need to tell BEHIND in this situation is beyond my level of comfort.

I think Dante said something about this.
