Too much water and too much black rice.
You only need a very little bit of that black rice to get the whole pot to turn purple.
Sometimes when you open the pot, it isn’t that purple but when you mix it, it’ll mix that purple color around.
Also note that the purple dye from the black rice is water soluble, so if you wash the rice a lot before you cook it, it might not make your white rice purple.
I would recommend just following the lines on the pot and using the measuring cup that comes with it. If there is a sushi rice setting or “JuMokBap” setting that can help you get a less mushy outcome.

LMAO not trying to be mean, but for a split second I thought the second pic was a mangled piece of steak 😂

For about three cups of white rice, you pretty much only need to add a tablespoon of black rice and to get the entire pot purple like the pic.

I remember my first time trying to make black rice. Same result. You have to use like…a sprinkling of black rice. Maybe 1/4 tsp. I think I used a pinch or so with my fingers.

You need to wash that rice. I’ve seen what’s normally perfect black rice turn out like the second shot when unwashed
