Coming back on with more of my shelf stable taste tests.
Today, Great Value brand Potted Meat. Pretty much dirt cheap loose paté. My place is a bit warm (cheap landlord, garbage AC), so it's very spreadable. I think I'd like it better as a nice stiff pate. To eat it, I used some thick, tough dipping corn chips.
It's as salty as you might imagine, and relatively smooth. Thank goodness it doesn't have little chunks. The flavor is strong on mustard and onion powder, so that's enjoyable, as opposed to plain meat flavored. Made me think this could be a good dip for veggies too. Something crunchy and refreshing to offset the saltiness.
Overall, a good drop of protein, an interesting flavor, and I think it only cost 70 cents.

…idk how you ate that
Better to market it as Pothead Meat.
It looks like cat food
I would potentially use something like this to stock a bunker. I really don’t think I have any use for it besides that. This is something you eat before starvation.
Sling blade!
All you need is an angry Polar bear demon and you have “The Terror” by Dan Simmons.
Just curious and not trying to pry; I’ve seen a couple of your posts now lol – do you not have refrigeration available? I support your shelf-stable endeavors and sharing it on this sub though!
mhmm, tasty, just not healthy tho
My cat wouldn’t even touch that
Yep, that meat sure is potted…
Not the store brand potted meat bro….. Come on. That’s like a placeholder item in a game when they can’t use real brand names lol
😟
Does it say what kind of “meat” is in it or is it just a fun mystery box/can
Honestly Libby’s potted meat on crackers was my favorite snack. Libby’s stopped making potted meat which was sad, Armour potted meat is really salty, compared to Libby’s. I might have to give the Walmart brand a try
Cat food?
Did OP grow up on it? Usually what I find when people willingly eat potted meat.
Potted meat spread onto plain white bread with some fresh cracked black pepper on it, folded in half like a taco – truly a nostalgic poverty delicacy
I like that potted meat and also sometimes I switch it up for canned ham because its actually really tasty! I’ve gotten lots of shit for it from my friend but hey, its affordable, keeps your belly full, and isn’t completely awful!
Is this like spreadable hotdog, someone lemme know
I recommend mixing it up like tuna salad with mayo and mustard. Even celery and onions if you are feeling fancy. I usually just eat it on crackers for texture and additional sodium.
Poor man’s paté
Those are actually pretty good. I like to pair it with my charcuterie board.
That stuff is ridiculously high in sodium.
I can’t imagine the sodium content on that thing
I grew up eating this, and still eat it to this day. It’s America’s poor man’s pâté
I hate Vienna sausages but a potted meat sandwich will hit the spot from time to time. Dope it up with some relish a squirt of mustard a dab of mayo onion and garlic powder black pepper it doesn’t need any more salt, then mix it up. Kinda like a poor man’s ham salad sandwich
I’ll eat the canned deviled ham but this is too far jk lol
Mmm, moist canned *meat*.
I like potted meat.
thats likenstuff i keep in my car in winter so i dont have to eat my toenails if i get in a blizzzard..
I respect it. Looks horrible but I could honestly see myself enjoying this with a touch of hot sauce.
The mystery of what you’re eating is half the fun.
