Spare ribs. Salt, pepper garlic. No sauce. Smoked with pecan wood. Anybody else like their ribs this way?

They look amazing, will try it next. Always stick to SPG for my beef cooks, never tried it for pork.

I was over in Portugal a couple months ago and had ribs prepared the same way. Epic, coming from a traditional barbecue rub guy. Making me rethink my whole allegiance to sauce, even for dipping.
Songy8123
Perfectly done. I’d put a little tiny bit of sauce at the end but that’s me.

Dude fuckin nailed this one.

I have not done it that way. But man, i would certainly give those a shot and have high expectations just on the looks of em.

Yes, except I use Apple and add onion powder to the blend for St. Louis ribs.

Does raw garlic smoke well?

Not a big sauce guy myself either. I’m down for some rub-only ribs 👍

I’m salivating looking through those pics. Pecan is so underrated, I usually mix with the something else depending in my mood. That rub looks perfect BTW!

SPG and cherry wood for me. No sauce but I like the “Old Fashioned glaze” that Yoder did a video on. He uses Woodford Reserve, I just use Buffalo Trace because it’s cheap and that’s what I usually have on hand for bbq/ cooking anyways.

Simple easy stupid. It’s the way to go, especially with good quality meat

I got 8 bones I need to smoke and I want I wrap in butchers paper. Problem is, I wrapped a brisket in it once and it was so hard and the point was crazy dry. No I didn’t add and liquids/fats. I hit 💯every time with foil though. Thinking about just foil boating.

Looks great. Personally love great meat without sauce… None needed if it’s good.

Hell yes! It’s rained every day here for the past week and I’ve got a rack I’m waiting to get on the smoker this way.

I like some sweetness with pork, big fan of the rubs that have a bit of sugar in them. Which then means you need paprika or something to balance out the sweetness. But yeah I like dry rubs, then people can dunk in sauce if they want.
denvergardener
Perfect.
That’s the exemplar of why people need to abandon 321 for ribs.
FunnyItWorkedLastTim
I like hickory as opposed to pecan, but yeah love dry rub salt and pepper ribs.

Those are some good looking ribs, I fill enjoy doing a hot honey rub smoked with a hickory blend. If they’re done right you don’t need any sauce!
