We’ve been growing these since March. Started fruiting a few weeks ago. Thought we bought pepperoncinis but now unsure. Would give it a 6/10 on the heat scale with some fruity notes in flavor. Thanks in advance.

Concur with habaneros. Definitely not pepperoncinis. Not sure what your tolerance for spice is so hard to say the 6/10 means much but at that ripeness they’ll have some sass but not full strength.

  2. 6/10 is a subjective scale.

Compared to a fresh jalapeño, are these significantly hotter?

A habanero is about 10-50x hotter than a jalapeño, so it would be very noticeably hot comparatively.

They look like they could be habaneros, and your description of the fruity flavor lends to that.

Crazy to think someone would sell a fairly spicy pepper plant and try to pass it off as a pepperoncini pepper plant. Would understand trying to pass off a banana pepper or a long hot, but a habanero is INSANITY

They look like habanero….. you might have the results of cross pollination

Thanks everyone. Was able to get in contact with the seller. They were red scotch bonnets that someone must’ve put down in the wrong section.
