Working on these habaneros that have been doing really well. Planted from seed on April 1. Been giving them some time outside but also have them inside under a grow light. Zone 6A. How do I know when I should transplant to 3-5 gallon containers?

My general rule of thumb is to wait until I can see a few roots popping out of the bottom of the pot looking for more moisture/nutrients. You might not have holes in the bottom of those yogurt pots so it would be difficult to tell.

Either way I don’t think you’d hurt them by potting up now.

Now 5 gallon and you’re fine ,I use bags

Top off soil with mulch in the bag

As soon as they have their second set of true leaves they can go into their final container.

You can do it any time at this point. In zone 6a it’s about time to get the season rolling UNLESS you are still having consistently cold nights, then maybe wait another week or 2, but I’m guessing your nights should be consistently 50F or higher now so…it’s time.

When the leaves reach the edge of the container

Glad to see I’m not the only use using my yogurt tubs for plants 😂
