Not bad, I thought I was going to be disappointed as I didn’t realize they were smoked when I purchased them. The smell of smoke was strong, but the smoke taste was just a hint. Quite nice.

  1. I’m curious whether you encountered spines. Regalis consistently states in their marketing materials that the fish are “gently steamed, then deboned by hand.” But I’ve never found any deboned sardines in their cans. That said, I’ve not bought any since last summer.

    Looks delicious. Try putting a dollop of yellow mustard between the fish and the cracker for a variation.
