Paddington’s most charming seafood spot can usually be found bobbing on a boat in the canal basin. But its kitchen is also putting together picnic hampers packed with British fish that can be collected from the bright-blue barge or delivered to your door. Menus are always changing depending on what’s in season and available daily from its suppliers in Cornwall, but the Easter box includes a whole trout, crumbly soda bread, thick folds of cold smoked salmon and plump crevettes. Plus there’s a bottle of Grand Duchess, a floral white wine made especially for the restaurant by Hattingley Valley winery in Hampshire.

Negril

There are no dry cucumber sandwiches at this Brixton-based, Caribbean-with-a-conscience spot. Owner Latanya Christie’s food is free range and organic. Her Negril platter comes with jerk chicken, plantain, rice and peas, coleslaw and saltfish fritters – pack the lot into a hamper on delivery, or collect en route to nearby Brockwell Park, where The Sympathetic Ear pub is serving takeaway pints.
