Basilico Italian Cafe, Historic Commercial Steet’s adored Italian restaurant, announced it has closed permanently on Oct. 26.
The restaurant took to Facebook to inform customers and the community of its closing, according to a company post. Basilico operated at 306 E. Commercial St. for six years. Company management did not disclose a reason for closing in the post.
“With a heavy heart we are sad to announce that we have closed our doors,” the restaurant said in the post. “We will miss all our faithful travelers and foodies. Thank you for all who have graced our establishment and made lifelong connections.”
The space that previously housed the restaurant is available for lease, Basilico Italian Cafe management said in the post. The company hinted at possible business opportunities in the future.
“We are excited for the future and with that comes new opportunities,” the restaurant said in the post. “Please reach out if you have a business venture, we would love to hear from you.”
The over 3,000-square-foot building that housed the restaurant was appraised at almost $194,000 and was owned by Cooper, LLC, according to Greene County Tax Assessor’s Office records. Cooper, LLC, is registered to Martha A. Cooper, according to Missouri Secretary of State records.
