Will travel the region around Pisa and Lucca in a couple of weeks and very interested to explore producers in areas like Carmignano, Montecarlo and Colline Lucchesi. Particularly looking forward to trying the Carmignano Sangiovese Cabernet blends, but open to any great producers worth a visit. Or regions that are close and worth the effort. I have know quite a bit about Montalcino, Bolgheri and Chianti, but other regions are relatively new to me. Has anyone travelled the region and have any recommendations for producers to visit?

[Cortonesi](https://www.lamannella.it/en/home/home) in Montalcino. I love Sangiovese and Tommaso’s wines are absolutely beautiful. The Rosso never leaves my weekly rotation and I’ll usually open a Brunello at holiday gatherings.

Poggio al Tesoro is cool and near the coast.

I lived and worked at Capezzana many years ago. It’s definitely worth a visit if you want to try Carmignano. I’m pretty sure at this point they have an organized tasting experience and even a restaurant. They also make a really delicious olive oil!
In terms of restaurants around there try Da Delfina and La Bussola da Gino. Both have great local recipes.

Pretty far from Pisa/Lucca, but Fattoria Le Pupille near Grosseto is a very nice winery! Plus, Monte Argentario and Isola del Giglio are nearby and absolutely spectacular to visit.

A few years ago I was in Tuscany for a wedding, we all went to Poggio Molina for dinner with wine pairings. Was excellent! Bought 10 bottles of wine and 2 bottles of their olive oil. Still have a couple of their 2015 Le Caldie (80 merlot, 20 cab sauv) in my wine fridge.

    Poggerino!!!
It’s near the sleepy town of Radda (romantic spot to spend a weekend). Poggerino is literally across from Montevertine! Piero is such a lovely man and gracious host and he farms meticulously well. Make sure you try his Concrete egg fermented and aged Sangiovese, it’s insane!

We were in Florence this past October and booked a day trip in the Tuscan countryside that included a stop at Fattoria di Montemorli, an organic farm and winery. We toured their facility, tasted some incredible wines, and were served a homemade lunch. It was easily my favorite day of our 10 day trip to Italy.

The farm has been in the Conforti family for many generations. It is currently run by three brothers. Vittorio is who gave us the tour and he couldn’t have been more welcoming. Besides wines that are typical for the area, they also produce an incredible Vinsanto del Chianti. It’s a dessert wine, which isn’t usually my thing. However, this stuff was delicious. Their Chianti Riserva was pretty great too.
