looking for the French strawberry Fraisier cake, similar to what the bakery Financier made before it closed down in 2020. The unique thing about the Financier Fraisier cake was that it had a nice thin layer of chocolate on the bottom

[Frasier cake, you say?](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BdynF_NQWG8)
Canelle in Queens sells something they call a strawberry shortcake that might work for you. Can’t remember if it had chocolate at the bottom, though.
I haven’t been but there’s also Les Gateaux de Marie in the UES.
Let me Google that for you.
Jersey City.

I saw it at Butterfield Market around Easter!
Bread Story (1st Ave btw 15th & 16th) is run by the former head baker of Maison Kayser and recently had them on [their IG page](https://www.instagram.com/breadstoryny?igsh=cmtoemEwZ21meXd5)
I think Balthazar has this as a Father’s day special. You might need to preorder though
