I saw Rose's (Blackpink) recent endorsement for the Shrimp Crackers/새우깡, so as I was walking down the snack aisle of my local asian grocery store today, I thought "why not" and picked these up.
First time I'd be having them in years.
Living in the US, I don't really eat them often, but as a kid I used to have them all the time. Pretty much a staple back then. I got home and opened up a bag as I sat down to do some work.
It's amazing how automatic childhood habits are. Just like riding a bicycle.
Are Shrimp Crackers/새우깡 on the rise again? Curious if anyone else is revisiting their old childhood snacks recently (or never left!)

It never went anywhere, it’s a Korean snack staple
I had them as a kid ~40 years ago and started buying them again when I had kids about ~10 years ago and they’ve always been around.
Was it ever on the decline?
Always has been.
These are my fave, but you have to have the spicy ones
Never went down!
Probably for foreigners?? It’s pretty standard and whatever snack
I recently discovered these and was immediately fully on board. So good.
Yes. Especially among the seagulls.
I ate so many of those but the spicy version. I can’t eat them anymore LOL
I buy a pack once year or two. But if I weren’t here in Korea I would probably crave them more!
The best shrimp brand
I’ve never stopped
I love shrimp crackers. Never stopped eating them. They were for years and years hard to buy because I didn’t live near an Asian market that sold them. So happy they became mainstream and Walmart and my local grocery store sells them.
Honestly, happy to see so many Korean food becoming more popular. So many dishes I was used to eating growing up i couldn’t make because I had little to no access to ingredients I needed. Nowadays only reason I don’t make a Korean dish is lack of knowledge on how to prepare it, which I’m working on, because so many good videos on YouTube etc.
grew up eating these snacks. I like them but not many people here in the USA would like imo because they are shrmipy/ fishy taste smell. which I like . Not the cheddar cheese , ranch, BBQ the typical American flavors. I can only find these in the Asian markets stores.
I have always had them in my house since my husband eats them.
I am not a fan personally though but I also do not really eat seafood in general.
What rise? I never knew it even fell. The shrimp cracker is like the Korean potato ship. It’s just always been around
These are excellent, let them keep rising.
The shrimp isn’t as strong anymore and less dusty. I don’t eat these that much anymore
