    I’m uneducated here: what are these? I assume obviously some type of mussel.

    They look like a littlenecks not Geo ducks am I wrong? The same kind I used to find on the shore in New Jersey growing up.

    Serve em up with some linguine with some garlic white wine sauce and we have a deal, I’ll take about 30 or so in my dish.

    Yes. I’ll take them in a garlic-parsley white wine sauce over linguine. Or wok-fried in black bean sauce, served with rice.

    Looks like what they sell as “steamers” in the north east. I’ve never actually had them. Always end up getting clams or mussels or oysters when it comes to bivalves

    The best place to get steamers in NJ is called “Moby’s”. It’s the more casual outdoor deck spot connected to Bahr’s Landing in the Highlands. They serve them by the bucket with drawn butter and the steamer liquid. You pull the leathery membrane off the foot, wash the clam off in the briny steamer liquid, then dunk it in the butter before devouring. So much nostalgia for that place my dad used to take me as a kid.
