I made my gf a wellington for our anniversary one year. Spent like $40 on the tenderloin, $10 for the prosciutto, $10 for high quality mushrooms, and another $5 for the puff pastry. Another $15 in the wine for the demi and had the rest of the ingredients on hand. It turned out beautiful, like something straight off of MasterChef.
She took one bite, looked at me and said “Well, it’s the thought that counts.”
It was not great at all, it was edible, and it wasn’t bad at all. Everything was cooked right. It’s just not as amazing as Gordon Ramsay makes it out to be.
Would much rather just toss a filet in a cast iron skillet basted with butter and rosemary and served with a simple red wine pan sauce.

What’s the green stuff around the meat? Is that some sort of sauteed vegetable in addition to the mushroom duxelle? Looks amazing!
Wow – and I thought everything was expensive there. Very nice Chef..
