Posted earlier today about my excitement in receiving my Classic 1…..well it just came and I am having difficulty accessing our back garden (bad planning on my part). Our side return is limited to 74cm width, but there is a small low level obstacle creating an even narrow 71cm gap.
With the wooden boxing it won't fit through the bigger gap, but even without the wood, the box won't fit through the narrowest gap. It's obviously far too heavy to lift.
Also now the delivery guys have gone, I don't have a trolley. But guess I can buy one.
Any ideas?
I've watched an unboxing video, and looks like I could start opening it, remove all the non fixed pieces. Then how heavy is the outer ceramic (base + lid). Would need to lift and carry this for maybe 12m. Probably only 2 people would be able to access front and back.

Yep, go exactly through the process you described. Take out all of the inner pieces to make it lighter and with a friend you should be able to lift it between the two of you. Make sure it’s turned so that the hinge is not facing one of the wall walls because the hinge makes it a lot wider. If you have the hinge turned towards your back gate there, it will make it a lot skinnier to get through the space.
I vastly underestimated the size of my BJ2, which was delivered last week. After unboxing and gutting, me and 2 mates got it inside the house, as my side access is too narrow at the gate end, however it’s too wide to get through to the back of the house and into the garden.
Thankfully, we are having our garden landscaped in a few weeks, and the contactors need to remove the back gate and ajoining neighbours gate plus a fence pannel or 2 to get the mini-digger in, and are going to take it through for us. Honestly not sure what i would have done otherwise.
Good luck!
My safest muscle it way that works:
To move these big buggers around. Take all of the lighter piece first into your patio area. I remove the lid by undoing the hinge/bands and move it. I put gloves on and reach into the firebox and grab it through the vent. I’m a big guy and have no problems carrying this way bracing on my legs. You can have a person on the other side balancing and guiding you through the narrow spots. I have moved BGE, Primos and KJ1 &2 like this when needed. There might be a couple of swear words so look out kids.
