Looks like trash, not even close to Carbonara

  2. I was confused as to why you’d just jar a cheese and egg mixture but oh lord it’s so much worse. It even is pre-pancettaed. It isn’t like carbonara is a super time intensive dish that you would save a lot of time by using a sauce like this.

At least it’s using pecorino in there…?

Is it really a surprise companies are gonna use Italian dishes as buzzwords? They’re just gonna do what makes them money, doesn’t matter if it’s accurate or not.

So I saw this in an Italian grocery store and curiosity got the better of me. I had to try it. I went in with an open mind as I do with trying anything new. Well holy fuck it was bad. I tried it just straight tossed with the pasta. Like slightly salty wallpaper paste. I tried doctoring it up, but there’s no redeeming this sludge. I tried adding black pepper, pancetta, a mountain of shaker parm. I even added peas because while a lot of people here seem to enjoy pissing on other people’s carbonara recipes, I prefer pea-ing on mine occasionally. And I thought, hey, it’s a product of Italy. Maybe it might not be so bad? I’ve had packaged carbonara from Japan before that was really quite good for what it was. Nope. The Italians shit the bed on this one. If I had a bike I’d call it Nonna
