Brand new to grilling. Bought a Grill Daddy scrubber and its fallen apart after 3 uses. Disappointed…Are these things not as good as the internet claims they are?

You used it when the grill was waaaaaay too hot.

They are not like a wire brush that is pretty impervious to heat:(

  2. NoCoFoCo31

Did you soak it in ice water as instructed? Mine looks like this too, but I’ve used it dozens and dozens of times.

  3. Get a wood one. They take time to break in but are great once they are.

Crumple up a ball of foil. It scrapes everything right off

Mine is in similar shape after only a few uses. I soaked it in ice water, as instructed, but I guess I need to let the grill cool more first.

Luckily it was a two pack from Costco so I’ve got a backup if this one fails apart sooner than it should.

Mine is working fine after like 10 or so uses. No visible wear.

Mine has been working great. I soak it in ice water before using, cleans the grates with ease. Just used it on my grill at about 550F, no problem.

  8. Get a Smarter Scubber. Still gotta watch the grill temp. Decent story from Smarter Everyday YouTube channel. Destin is working towards 100% made in USA.

This is user error. I’ve had mine with the same brush head since December.

I saw these at Costco earlier today. It looked like a 3 pack for $40 CAD. I just use the same chainmail I use to clean my carbon steel and cast iron skillets.

I don’t think the ice in the ice water matters nearly as much as keeping the grill grate below 350 before use. I’ve only used mine once or twice and it’s still in great shape, but I’m making sure the grill isn’t too hot.

  12. Mine works great. Temp stays at 300 or less, and the brush is soaked in cold water. I use it every time I grill.

They’re awesome. Im willing to guarantee you were hotter than 300 degrees.

Almost bought one of those for the FIL, thx for the heads up

I feel like this is a hit job. Mine still has color.

  16. crash_davis_225

Get rid of it and just use an onion. Cut it in half and clean your grates while they are hot

  17. Delamainco

Are you soaking it in water first? I’ve used mine dozens of times with no wear

  18. canada1913

I used mine once and returned it. I’ll risk the metal fibres.

  19. Porter_Dog

You didn’t read the instructions. PER THE INSTRUCTIONS: Douse in water before use.

  20. Soak it first then it acts like a “ steamer sponge” – they work pretty well.

  21. Accurate_Use2679

Mine like that you are supposed to soak in water before use… looks like you might’ve skipped that step.

  22. Why would anyone clean a grill with something that melts?

  23. Shenanigan_V

There are no good grill brushes. That one looks like it needed to be wetted first maybe? That style and the spiral ones suck. Use a ball of foil or half an onion

  24. Ok-League-3024

Did you soak it for 10 minutes? And re apply water after each use if you are doing it at 400+

  25. Don’t need to be so obsessed with cleaning. Get one of those French wood paddles to scrape things off. I love it, and not planning to go back to anything abrasive.

  26. Mharvey1019

I got the BBQ daddy with the replaceable heads, and it’s great. Just make sure your grill is between 250° and 300°, soak the scrubber beforehand, and you have clean grates every time. One head lasts about a year, and I could probably stretch it to 2 years if I wanted to, but for $5, why not use a fresh one every year

  27. 18NakedCboys

    Doesn’t follow instructions/uses on a freshly turned off grill= This thing doesn’t work ☹️

  28. Save ur money. You do t need those things, turn you burners up or add more coals to burn ur grate, keep the flavoring and don’t scrape

    Grill brushes are overated.

Got aluminum foil? Ball it up and use it as a scrubber on a hot surface it will annihilate any stuck on shit better than most brushes you can buy and you don’t have to clean a brush after

  31. ChangeBeneficial1443

You are supposed to set the grill to 300 , dip it in ice water and it’s more like a steam clean scrape. 40 uses on mine , no sign of wear lol

  32. MeganJustMegan

I bought one like this but with the wood handle. I soak it in water & then clean the grates. Even at 650° it never melted.

How dare yall accuse me of doing exactly what i did.
