Moved into a new house and don’t have a concrete pad out back yet, is this too close to the vinyl siding?

Yes. The heat will warp the vinyl.

Yes. You’ll melt that siding.

Maybe the grass will act as insulation

Only if you’re cooking.
NTPC4
If you ever use it at high temperatures, it will warp your vinyl siding.

Yes. Go old-school, put it under a tree. Plenty of sticks for kindling within reach, too.

Way to close. You should get two concrete square step stones further from your house to set it on until you make your patio

YES! It will melt the siding for sure. I had mine close to the house because I knew to move it before using. My son-in-law was over one day while I was at work and decided to “be nice” and cook some food and didn’t move the grill. I got home to several square foot of melted siding 🙁

Yes. It’s not just the heat, but imagine worst case scenario with 6 foot flames roaring out of it… do you want it that close to your home? Can’t see your eaves in the photo, would they be licked by flames?
I’d give yourself a couple more feet at least.

Great place to store it but do not fire it up that close. You’ll have some sad looking siding after the first cook.

Yes. Pull it away a few more feet when you cook.

Yes… And also asking for trouble if a burning ember drops into that grass.

If your siding is asbestos it’s probably fine.

This is definitely to close. I always use a general rule of 2-3 times the width of my grill away from a home. Also doesn’t hurt to a fire extinguisher nearby inside the house.
Efficient-Gift-8684
Why risk it when you have plenty of room?
Intrepid-Scarcity486
Bro go buy some paver stones you don’t need a concrete pad
LodestarSharp
Why do you want it that close to the house?

To close – and get yourself some pavers… Don’t need to build a whole patio just get that thing up off the dirt. Maybe give yourself something solid to stand on too.
A few 24×24 ones will make short work of that project.

I wouldn’t cook any closer than 3ft to the house.
