Tried my hand at gimbap and it tasted right on point with the local gimbap shop! How did I do? I also just love sesame seeds so I went overboard 😅

Looks good! I would use about half the amount of rice to give it more balance, but I’m sure it was delicious all the same.
For reference, the amount of rice typically used in kimbap shops within Korea is about the size of a softball. When you’re spreading the rice on the seaweed, you’ll still be able to see the color of the seaweed under the rice and there might be a few thin patches. This is okay, especially when rolled up!
Lots of restaurants that sell kimbap outside of Korea often add more rice to increase the bulk and lower the cost of the ingredients. No shade if you prefer it this way though!
