We used to go to grandma’s to get the ultimate sugarwich: bread, butter, brown sugar. Just got hungry

This was common back in my childhood days in Indonesia. 2 pieces of bread, margarine and sugar. Another common thing that we have and we got from the dutch is bread with chocolate sprinkles/hagelslag.

I can’t even be mad about it. He genuinely looked so happy eating it that it made me feel happier just watching it.

We had them with margarine on the bread so the sugar stuck.

My guy had the toaster oven RIGHT THERE and skipped the butter & heat. 🤦🏾♀️

I butter the bread so the sugar sticks. It’s so good!
I used to make “Oreos” out of Chips Ahoy and salted butter. Mmm making me hungry

I make a variant of this using peanut butter, sugar, and cinnamon.

I mean, it’s a “hood” snack. That said, I used to go crazy for some sugary bread from a brazilian bakery that I lived near, so it’s absolutely valid as a concept.

Instructions unclear, I fingered the bread without sugar

At least toast it or put it on a nonstick pan so it can caramelize. Then I’ll be okay with it.

Yep. I used to eat sugar sandwiches. Sucked when we were out of bread or sugar. We weren’t poor, I was just too young to cook and a latchkey kid. Cinnamon bread (slice of bread, cinnamon, and sugar with butter) was when we had all the good ingredients.

Toasted , buttered and a mix of cinnamon & sugar !
Someone’s obviously not a Kendrick fan.
Sugar/Syrup sandwiches firmly fall under poverty food and are not too uncommon. Cinnamon Toast is the (very slightly) upscale version.
In France, you put a drizzle of olive oil and sugar on a baguette, shit was my after school snack for years
