I was in the area and decided to drop by Il Ristorante for their business lunch. Turned out to be a pretty good meal.
Assoluto Vegetale: A clear vegetable broth made without any water, just pure extraction from vegetables. Don’t let its simple look fool you, this was packed with flavor. Incredibly deep and concentrated.
Cold Roast Beef with Herbs: Super tender and clean. Nothing fancy, just perfectly done.
Tomato Sauce Spaghetti: The original dish on the menu was vongole spaghetti, but since I’m allergic to seafood, I asked to swap it for their signature tomato sauce pasta. This was a bit of a letdown, and in hindsight, I should’ve chosen something else. Not that it was bad, in fact, it might’ve been the best tomato sauce spaghetti I’ve ever had, but at the end of the day, it was still just that – tomato sauce spaghetti.
Affogato al Caffè: Like the roast beef, this was a classic dish executed to perfection. Might be the best affogato I’ve ever had.
The total came to around ¥14,000 with one non-alcoholic cocktail. A bit pricey, but overall an enjoyable experience. The restaurant focuses on classic Italian dishes with a contemporary touch, it doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel, but instead focuses on high-quality ingredients and perfect execution. A solid choice if you’re looking for classic Italian fine dining in Tokyo.
