Yall I thought I struck gold with this pesto I found on sale at the store, only 11 calories per serving, so I used the whole thing for meal prep today. As it was cooking I noticed the amount of evoo in it and it just feels like this cant be as low calorie as the label says? Im scared I just added like 1,000 calories to my meal 😭 Has anyone seen or used this before?

it says total fat per serving is 9g of fat which is already 81 calories sadly.

edit: add on, so there’s at least 405 calories in the whole jar.

Well, labels can be inaccurate up to 20% (assuming you’re in the USA), but because the label doesn’t give the amounts of each ingredient, I would hazard a guess that the vast majority of the pesto are peppers. I frankly would add a few extra calories to be on the safe side, but there’s no cream or anything else to really make it crazy.

I think it is too good to be true, with 9g fat per serving. Is it a typo for 110 calories?

  4. Yea, that’s not correct. It’s 88 calories per serving just for the EVOO.

With olive oil and almonds being in the top 3 ingredients there is absolutely no way 26g have 11kcal. This is reflected in the 9g of fat per serving.

I think the serving size and number of servings is switched when they calculated the calories? Because 5g (1tsp) and 26 servings also makes sense. So a half cup jar like this is 286 calories total with each teaspoon being 11 calories.
