Groceries are too damn expensive to be playing with your food. Rage bait or not.

ETA: I am in the wrong. This is an actual dish from Colombia called Lomo al Trapo. Not stupid food at all.

It looks great but I think it’ll give you cancer.

  3. The fact it didn’t burn is worse than if it did

How many micro doses of laundry detergent are embedded in the towel?

This is actually a Latin American recipe called “Lomo Al trapo “ except that you are supposed to soak the towel in wine. If properly made it’s absolutely amazing

That looks like a good way to ruin some quality beef. Why not use tinfoil?? The key to good steak or roast beef is to not let it dry out.

So, posters in this sub are just stupid and blind, right?

The cloth is soaked in red wine to keep the meat moist and impart flavor while roasting it in the coals.

Tell me, do any single one of you schmucks know anything about cooking?

Just because a cooking method is unorthodox doesn’t mean it’s stupid. It’s like complaining about roasts cooked wrapped in lotus leaves and clay. It’s not a common method in most kitchens, but that doesn’t make it automatically incorrect. As long as that is undyed, clean 100% cotton, the food should be fine. Looks like it was cooked nice and rare, too. Either way, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. I don’t know if it’s tasty or not, but there’s nothing here that screams stupid to me.

Lomo al trapo. Perfectly normal in Colombia. Yet one more iteration of this subreddit clasifying foreign food as “stupid”.

Honestly I think I’ll prefer it to be wrapped in a banana leaf before wrapping it in a wine towel 😛

Also not stupid at all lol

This looks really good. How is this stupid food?

  12. Fuck that. I wanna see more of the steak in last second of the video

  13. Even though I didn’t know this was an actual dish, I knew that it looked absolutely bomb and that it was safe to eat. I’m actually amazed by how many people believed that this was extremely stupid and gross.

I got this recipe in an email from New York times last week

Awesome how it’s rare and well done, so no one can get mad at you.

I’m Colombian, but have lived in the US most of my life. I hadn’t heard of this, so I asked my mother and she recognized it. She said it was a bit odd to use a towel, since usually it was just cloth. Either way, it’s cotton, so it’s food-safe. She also mentioned it was usually just water, not wine, and it wasn’t stuffed. Seems this guy took some creative liberties, but overall, it’s not stupid. Cooking food wrapped/covered in cloth, leaves, clay, or salt is nothing new.

It’s a culture thing you morons. And thats high coming from people who did all kinds of gross shit with their food in the 30s.

    Another r/lostredditor let’s all say this together – just 👏 because 👏 it’s 👏 different 👏 doesn’t 👏 mean 👏 it’s 👏 stupid 👏

While yes, it is possible to be stupid food because it’s different, but that doesn’t mean everything different than you’re used to is stupid food.

  19. PleasantDevelopment

the stupid food part of the video is at the end where it starts with buddy and that massive piece of beef (starts with the “alright”)

  20. PhishPhox

I know it looks stupid, but I’ve actually done this and it was delicious.

The towel that is. Not the steak.

    Also I’m a goat
