ASK Italian Menu, more lemons and my shadow

My chicken was mouthwatering and tender, an excellent choice. It came with two dips, one a bit too spicy, the other a really tasty, spot-on mayo. Sarah thought the mushrooms were nice, though a little dry and would’ve benefited from a buttery garlic sauce instead of the garlic mayo accompaniment. Kerry thoroughly enjoyed the prawns and said they were amazing and full of flavour and as I wasn’t a fan of the spicy dip, she took it to accompany the prawns.

Starters at ASK Italian

On to the mains, which didn’t take too long to arrive, probably the perfect time in between courses. My burrata and pancetta pasta tasted incredibly fresh and seemed quite light despite being a carby dish, another great choice. Hoorah. The linguine carbonara that Sarah had was tasty, with lovely crispy bacon bits and Kerry rated the pesto pasta as ‘delicious’, however without the added chicken it might have been a little underwhelming in flavour. I was certainly happy with my two courses so far.

Main courses… mmmmmm

We were offered dessert menus… I don’t need to be asked twice, yes please. It was a delightful read, and again I took a while to decide but I couldn’t not pick the Toffee Bomboloni Sundae (£7.50). Tiramisu (£7.75) was Sarah’s choice whilst Kerry went for the Chocolate Falls (£8.75). We all had a coffee; a cappuccino for Kerry, a latté for Sarah and I went for an Iced Tiramisu Latté. Slurp.

Again, arriving in perfect time, they looked amazing. All the food had been presented well but my eyes popped out like Tom from Tom and Jerry when my dessert appeared in front of me. My sundae was a delight. The Biscoff mini doughnuts combined with the popcorn, ice cream and fudge pieces were dreamy. Yum. The tiramisu was generous in portion and Sarah thought it was lovely, but the Baileys and chilled espresso pour-over made the base soggy quite quickly. Kerry enjoyed hers but wasn’t sure it was worth the price. You’re definitely paying for the experience with that one as the hot toffee sauce melts through the chocolate dome onto the goodies below.

Desserts to make you drool

The Taste Card gave us two for one so we got the cheapest starter, main and dessert for free and the total including drinks was £89.95. So, we see why Sarah loves her Taste Card so much – we saved just over £42 – but we agreed that with or without the Taste Card, we were happy with the price. The restaurant was clean, bright and welcoming with beautiful decor, the service was excellent and thanks to Sarah for asking for his name, I can give a special mention to our friendly waiter Michael who was fantastic all evening.

PS, this is not an ad for Taste Card.
