  1. Welcome! Exchange this for Vertuo Pop+ Deluxe. Much better reliability while having the option of the amazing “expert mode”. Nespresso has a class action lawsuit against it for how unreliable the Nexts are.

Use purified water. I have a zero water pitcher that I use for all my drinking water. I use that for my vertuo. I’m 100% convinced that’s why it’s lasted 5+ years. Obviously I descale it but it only needs to be done like every 9-12 months.

I’m not anti fluoride or anything. I just have **really** hard water where I live and it doesn’t taste good.

  3. You might want to return and buy a plus model, If you care about it lasting over a year.

My two favorite pods are double espresso chiaro, and the melozio.

Dont buy so many coffees, just buy the ones you want.

The Starbucks branded pods are a lot worse than the Nespresso made ones. Also the Barista is definitely not required but I really like it. Pretty much exclusively drink double espresso cappuccinos now.

Order nespresso pods from the app and get free shipping by picking up at UPS. Starbucks pods are alright but I prefer nespresso

DONT listen to every comment about how bad this machine is. Had it for three four years with no issues lol

Cuba, NOLA, Coconut Vanilla, and Pistachio Vanilla are the limited time pods so get them quick if you want to try them

Run a “rinse” cycle once a week and hand wash all removable pieces too. I usually take a warm damp paper towel and hit all the areas inside where pods go, around where pods eject, and the dispenser tip. Lots of dried dark concentrated coffee is hidden well on the black plastic

Don’t expect it to make as good of espresso as the original line. We are hooked on this new style of coffee but it’s not espresso, even in espresso sizes

Download the app. Though the app is mostly a sales pitch it make descaling much much easier. Also check out Nessus for pod refill. A little work but save a ton of$.

Keep your receipt for the warranty but also make sure to rinse it once a week. You can also do an auto renewal for pods online. I love it because I get a shipment once a month and I get a discount for having a large enough of an order.

Immediately eject the capsule after brewing!

  15. Buy the vertuo plus there is a class action lawsuit against Nespresso for the vertuo next for being poorly designed and leaking. Amongst other things.
I had one in addition to the vertuo plus, and my next did nothing but leak, refuse to read pods, and then turn red constantly, I returned it and bought an OL to have in addition to my plus

First, to get this out of the way, save your receipt. A current lawsuit that is seeking class action status claims with some validity that Nespresso has continued to sell the Next knowing it to have a high failure rate. Be sure you register the machine with Nespresso so you will be on record should a settlement include compensation.

That said, I suggest looking at some of the variety packs that will allow you to try some varieties without buy ten pods of each. But if you happen to end up with extras that are not your favorites, hang onto them for guests who may prefer those varieties. Nespresso pods a nitrogen filled and the coffee will last for year, virtually indefinitely. Ignore expiration dates.

Use good water. It doesn’t have to be special. Drinking water, meaning RO water with some mineral added back in is optimal. But water that has been through a Brita type pitcher filter will have the chorine and other bad tastes removed but will still have whatever mineral content your tap water has. Pitcher type filters and common faucet filters DO NOT reduce mineral content. The high mineral content some places won’t be bad for the flavor but will require more frequent descaling. Straight Reverse Osmosis and distilled waters will usually leave the flavor a bit flat, since they have no mineral content at all.
