Opening a bottle of 2011 Clos du Marquis and noticed this when peeling the seal. Is this mold? Wine itself looks fine. Safe to drink?

It is mold, and it’s totally fine. A sign of proper humidity in long term storage.

ya looks like it, clean it up with warm water + soap or can do vinegar
wine should be OK, inspect the cork closely.

Either mold or tartrate. Safe to drink either way. Just clean it off with a damp cloth.

If if is “corked” you will smell it and taste it. When the sommelier/waiter hands you the cork or pours a bit in your glass it is the only reason it is done.. to see if it’s corked.
