KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A free picnic for veterans, active service members and family is coming to the French Broad Veterans Memorial Park next weekend, East Tennessee Military Affairs Council officials said.
The event will be hosted by Captain Bill Robinson of Chapter #1078 of Vietnam Veterans of America.
It’s an annual picnic to honor military members and veterans so they are never forgotten, ETMAC representatives said.
Opening ceremonies start on May 17 at 11 a.m. and food will be served between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
The memorial park is located off of John Sevier Highway.
Attendees are asked to park at the East Tennessee State Veterans’ Cemetery and ride a shuttle to the event. Shuttles will run from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Lawn chairs are welcomed.
