What a silly thing. Just use a knife. Onions are pretty easy to chop and you don’t want to chop them the same all the time, so this would only be useful here and there. One of my fav onion dishes is just simple pico and these are too big for that.
onions are great knife skills practice. And if you’re good it only takes a second without a special one use gizmo. Forget this sky things, just use a knife.

For fine slices, my mandolin. For any other size, my knife.

It depends. Typically a knife for small work, yet I use a mandolin if I’m prepping a lot.
