Always Krug, especially if you have never tried it.

  2. grapemike

Pol Roger, Gossett, Bollinger Special Cuvée (always a reliable treat), Krug if you are shooting the moon

  3. sndrzchn22

If you dont want to spend big money, I‘d suggest Pol Roger. Maybe even the Vintage one. I really like those. Other than that Krug is always the answer.

  4. Dangerous-Jacket9553

I would go Krug or Marc Hebrárt Special Club.

  5. unobtrusiveaffluence

Pol Roger, but I recommend seeking out the blanc de blanc and skip the Pinot noir.

  6. PopcornInTheBed

Marc Hebrart special club or Goutourbe (probably spelled wrong). They’re the two best in terms of what’s going to be tasty now.

  7. joobtastic

    Marc Hebrart SC.

    Or Krug.

Or any of the Special Clubs. I’ve yet to find one that misses.

  8. If you want a Special Club bottle (not sure how much Champagne you drink) but I’d go Marc Hebrart over the others. Anything they make is great.

Krug, sure, I mean it’s great. 171 isn’t my fav but if you’ve never had Krug before, it’ll be a treat.

Of the cheaper options, the Doyard stands out. Fantastic QPR.

First of all congratulations! Secondly, agree with everyone, but will add I’ve never had a bad Mousee

Would normally say special club, but in this case, Krug.

  11. sealonbrad

Ruinart, Pol Roger, Billecort are all good choices

  12. Krug is always a winner but that Vilmart is one of my fav $ for $.

Save your money…You gonn have to pay supplemental property tax for sure.

Laurent Perrier Rose bubbles. It’s beautiful.

  15. ferchristssakestopit

Pol roger or Billecart both drink awesome young but age beautifully

    Billecart Salmon
    Nothing crazy

Save the money for the house lol

    Congrats!!

Cuvée Rosé from Laurent-Perrier is my go to celebratory champagne. Predictably delicious, and the Rose’ is so festive!

  18. TroubleshootReddit

Depends on how nerdy you are about Champagne… I love some of those on the shelf, but if you’re just popping it for bubbles maybe just go with something like Vilmart since you just dropped $$$ on the house.

  19. HotSweetLightDip

Skip the bubbly. Go for an 8ball of booger sugar! Last party before the mortgage payments set in.

I’d go for either the Vilmart Couer de Couvee 2013 or the 2009 DP Rose. Both are delicious and won’t disappoint (and have great looking bottles). Krug is always great and celebratory, but much toastier.

I will be the opposite to many here and say I find Special Club offerings to be hit or miss. Some are excellent, others tend to be meh.

Lots of good stuff here, but Vilmart is great stuff – fully vinified and aged in oak, but no malolactic, so it’s rich and generous but with laser focussed acidity.

  22. noctambulare

Krug, but man the Billecart is also delicious. If money is no object buy both and double blind them to find your real favorite.

  23. ATheeStallion

Perrier Jouet. It’s standard high bar is excellent. Perfect bubbles, dry without being metallic, rounded flavor soft vanilla on the palette. Really love the PJ far more than more pricey bottles. When you get pricier there are major differences and you need to know what you like. The PJ is always my default for quality / usual special occasion. Save money on the bubbly bc you probably need to sink it into your new investment.

  24. Uhmbahbumba

Hey look Forget Brimont! I sell that. I wish they had their Blanc de Blanc, the rose is really good too though

  25. I see a Special Club. I buy a Special Club. No thinking required and no mistakes made.
