Caramalized? No, no I would definitely not say that. You could argue that they’re caramelized, and I’d be hard pressed to gainsay you.

No, but I’d still eat them

You’re still looking at another 45 minutes, Muchacho.

Definitely not but they’re on their way!

Thanks everyone! Im learning to cook after growing up in a household that didn’t. Apparently, I love onions! But I’m not ever sure what to call them when I cook them like this.
Jonny_Disco
Agree with everyone else here, not quite caramelized yet. Although that’s a damn good looking pile of sauteed onions!

Not yet. Keep going until it’s dark brown and everything is mushy and nothing looks like onions anymore. Congratulations on a great try. Post your finished product.

I thought this was Pad Thai lol
rly_weird_guy
Still good but only half way, when it is fully caramelized it’ll look much darker, and less wet. After you’re fully done you add some liquid in to deglaze

No, but i prefer them like you just made them.

I cook two onions a week at this consistency to put on everything. I would call it sauteed not caramelized but it’s how I prefer them.

you got about another 3 days to go bud

Like everyone else said, sautéed. But this is my favorite way to eat onions! The secret to my tomato sauce is that I sauté one whole onion to build it on.
jols0543
nope, but they’re cooked to perfection for me

They’re gettin’ there, just a little more time.

The real question is, how do you pronounce it correctly?

These would go so hard on a burger rn. Not carmelized quite yet tho

I used to think this was caramelized but apparently I don’t have the patience for it. This looks delicious. It doesn’t take much to bring out the sweetness of an onion and idk what’s the point of cooking onions for 4+ hours just to remove the texture.
