Cafe Basilico operated for five years at 306 E. Commercial St.
A 5-year-old Italian restaurant on Commercial Street has shuttered.
Cafe Basilico, located at 306 E. Commercial St., announced in an Oct. 26 Facebook post that the business has closed.
“We will miss all our faithful travelers and foodies. Thank you all who have graced our establishment and made lifelong connections – words cannot express our gratitude,” the post reads.
The post indicates the restaurant space is now available for lease.
“We are excited for the future and with that comes new opportunities,” the post reads. “Please reach out if you have a business venture; we would love to hear from you.”
Attempts to reach the ownership of Cafe Basilico were unsuccessful by deadline.
Owner Martha Cooper opened Cafe Basilico in August 2019 with business partner Gina Cooper, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting. The space previously housed their Sisters in Thyme concept since 2011.
The building with 3,310 commercial square feet is owned by Cooper LLC, according to Greene County assessor records. A Missouri secretary of state filing lists Martha Cooper as the organizer of that LLC.
Cafe Basilico’s menu included pasta dishes such as spaghetti and fettuccine alfredo, as well as sandwiches, soups, salads and appetizers, according to its Facebook page.
