Just found in a local Spanish retailer, I know that is hard to find but I think 250€ is maybe a little too much

Really cool find but overpriced. I’d pay that maybe at a restaurant.

I had the 01 once…. Paid 200 cad for it and I don’t think it was worth it, it is good but unless you are a rioja fanatic and this is a unicorn wine for you I would pass.

Try Martinez Lacuesta instead

This one is 350€ in a well known online shop in germany

it was $250 in the US when I saw it this year, so it’s a little pricier but if you want it buy it. you won’t regret it.

Have you had the Bianco Gran Reserva before? If not, I would give this a hearty green light on buying one. This is a “station of the cross” wine for me. I love the reds, but they hold far less significance to me for whatever reason.

Its incredibly hard to find for a reasonable price. I think 250 is worth it if you geek out over rioja blanco like i do.
it was awarded a 100 points bei parker and atkin, 99 from suckling. So the prices jumped over 300 euros with most retailers.

I had the 2009 Reserva for around 150€ at Viña del Senior restaurant in Barcelona so I could see the Grand Reserva fetching 100€ more in restaurants but seems a bit much 250€ for retail imo

Also there’s a lot of vintage variation in these wines, winemaking not “as controlled” so as someone up said I would rather not risk it and go for something else, maybe get the reserva for a bit cheaper if you really want to try

Yes, in my opinion, but tbh you might want to start with a less expensive bottle and make sure you like it

La Vinya del Senyor (probably the deepest wine list in Barcelona), which often has special, aged wines priced similar or even lower than retail, has this exact bottle at 275 euro… so this isn’t a fantastic price but it isn’t a bad one.

I’m not sure where everyone else is finding this gran riserva blanco for such low prices but I picked one up for 500 usd and that’s mostly what I’ve seen around. I think it was easily worth that. I’m also not the kind of person who regularly drops that much on a bottle. I just had it the other night for my brother’s birthday and it was absolutely stunning. We had it over 3 hours and literally every sip was different, it was brimming with complexity and paired with mushroom rissoto, scallops, and lamb. If you have the money and like rioja blanco then it’s an easy buy.

No. Especially the white. The first time I had it, I was blown away. But I think I let myself get too involved in the story and I liked it before I tasted it. And the next couple of times, just heavily oxidative viura.

I sourced it for €180 recently. But that was through a good relationship with my local specialist retailer. I tried to buy a bottle at the bodega in Haro last year and the purchase requirement to buy one bottle of 2004 blanco was multiple cases of current vintage plus one of each gran reserva, came to about €1500 outlay.

Well overpriced right now cuz parkers & Atkins rating. So I would avoid the DMG.

Last time I had a bottle it was about $75, but that was a long time ago. Both the white and rose age beautifully, however I can’t imagine paying that much for a bottle now.
Understanding-Fair
It’s an incredible and singular wine. Guess it just depends on what that’s worth to you.

Some shops have 01 for 120.

It´s an interesting wine, but unusual and somewhat an aquired taste. Personally not a fan of the style, but interesting to try once. At 250eur though, Ím out…
symsays
Decent price considering you have to buy a case of the red reserva to get one bottle of the white from the winery. The rose is even harder to find!
andresp91
I personally believe it is completely worth it! I’ve tried several different vintages including this one and a 1954. I would get it and try to hold it for 9 more years!

Is that a fair price? I don’t know.
But I always say that wine is meant to appeal to the poet in us, not the accountant.

Buy them out.

Taking into consideration you can buy much better wines for that price, no
