French Society opened in Mill Lane last month and bills itself as “Parisian charm flirting with modern soul”.

The new venture is from the same team as Patron in Kentish Town, which is famed for its first class cocktails and classic bistro dishes – from French onion soup to boeuf Bourguignon.

On his menu are snails, steak tartare, duck rillettes, and moules a la creme followed by confit duck, chicken supreme, and onglet steak with cafe de Paris butter.

Diners can round off their meal with a creme brulee or their famous grandmere’s mousse au chocolat, spooned straight from a huge bowl.

With its white tableclothes, starched curtains and Parisian-style interior, Louis says French Society is “a place you’ll want to return to time and time again, to bask in the energy of the crowd, to be a part of a community, or to enjoy a quiet moment alone.

“It is a place that feels alive and timeless in its warmth, like a perfectly aged Bordeaux, where time seems to linger, where the conversations flow as effortlessly as the wine.”

After opening on May 22, the dog-friendly spot is organising a free music night on Saturday in celebration of the ‘Fete de la Musique’.

A spokeswoman for the restaurant said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be able to spread our wings and become a part of the incredible neighbourhood in Mill Lane.

“There is such a great French community in the area, so we’re very excited to embrace this famous French tradition with beautiful jazz music played by local artists.”

As well as music, French Society will be launching a new cocktail menu and new seasonal dishes including oysters with Champagne vinaigrette.

French Society is now open at 77, Mill Lane, West Hampstead for lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday. Closed Sundays and Mondays.
