In preparation for the kind of nutrition and diet I’ll have to commit to for the rest of my life after my bariatric surgery I’ll be getting next month, I’m forcing myself to get into canned/tinned fish. I won’t be able to have bread then, but this is my first time ever having sardines, so I figure bread will help right now. For my first sardine experience, I went with matiz lemon essence sardines in olive oil. Yellow bird hot sauce on top. This was good!

Should have put it over rice.
If you like them, or learn to, you’ll find some you can eat straight from the can.
You didn’t mention whether or not you enjoy fish. I love hot sauce with my sardines, but that looks a bit heavy handed and would mask the flavor. Forcing yourself to enjoy something seems odd, sardines can be an acquired taste for many. The Matiz brand is good quality, crumbled into a salad is a good starting point to a hopefully long term relationship. Bib lettuce, olives, a little onion…. lemon and olive oil, a dash or two of hot sauce.
Best wishes on your journey, enjoy the little fish.
And, enjoy your bread while you can.
Needs more crunch imo. Pickle. Cracker. Baguette. C’mon naw!
Brave of you to go with the big bois. Congrats. Happy for you.
